So public tickets went on sale and I got my ticket.

Either the concert is selling well or they gave the public really crappy seats. My choices for "best available" was Row R Center, or the end on Row E on both left and right sides. I decided to get the Center seat but I'm kind of upset I have to settle for these seats when my the seats I purchased for the Paris and Brescia were much, much better.

Aww sorry, that really sucks. But I'm sure the concert will be great no matter what.

Well now I'm more angry because I was messing around and decided to do a search for 3 seats grouped together and it gave me 3 seats in one of the first rows! It makes no sense; it should be the other way around: single seats should be able to get anything while the group seats should be harder.

I booked my flight and hotel room too. I'm only going to stay 3 days and 2 nights.

Well, this phenomenon is called capitalism. You buy more - you are served better. If you buy 20 seats, maybe you are allowed to join on the stage. Twisted Evil

I'm really sorry, Paul, that you got a bad seat!!!

Good news! I was checking to see how tickets have sold and a seat in row 3, center section just showed up! I couldn't resist so I bought that one too! I'm going to call the venue tomorrow and see if there is any way i can beg to get my bad seat refunded.

There is now a post-show reception that is free if you RSVP fast enough. http://www.uclalive.org/calendar/event_detail.asp?id=15

It sounds like some of the band may be there.

There are going to be special guests! Mark Lanegan and Ben Gibbard (Death Cab from Cutie) will be at the performance?

37 Recent interview with J.C. on Sun Sep 26, 2010 11:15 am

Hey Paul,

It seems it will be a really great concert!!! And an after-show party!? Cooooooooooooool.
But I don't think that you will meet Cale there...maybe just for some autographs. I can't imagine that he will mix with the crowd, unless he is forced to do so...hehehe...

Here a recent interview:

I GOT TO MEET HIM!!!!!!!!!!!! I went to the after party and, after I waited for what felt like forever by the door, he finally came out! He was extremely sweet and signed both my CD and program and let me take a photo with him even though the flash made him jump a little. Smile It was seriously the best moment of my life.

And, of course, the concert was absolutely amazing!!!!! I LOVED every minute of it, especially Heartbreak Hotel and the Gun/Pablo Picasso combo. I'm so sad it's over and I really hope someone recorded it and is going to put it on YouTube (though the ushers seemed pretty uptight and were walking around throughout the whole thing).

Also, I was sitting in the same row as Zooey Deschanel and got a photo of her!

Awww, that's great!
How many people were there waiting for him?

Hmmm I'd say around 10-15 people waiting anxiously by the door, and quite a few more milling around in the lobby area and outside on the patio. But I only saw him giving autographs, etc. to the people standing with me (he also went outside for a few to talk to some people he must have already known).
